The company has recently welcomed a new Zoller smileCompact, an essential presetting tool for the adjustment and measurement of tools used in CNC machining centres.

 

New systems in GBS departments

In February, we introduced a new tool to our production lines, which was chosen for its efficiency and the quality of the brand that produces it; the new smileCompact is the compact version of the measurement systems by Zoller, a supplier capable of guaranteeing the elevated level of technology and reliability that we look for in all our partners.

 

Sturdy, compact and easy to use, the smileCompact system can be positioned on CNC machinery or on machining stations, wherever it is necessary to guarantee precision measurement of small or medium-sized tools.

 

The intuitive nature of the Zoller software allows easy use of the tool by the operator, without the need for lengthy and complex training. The “pilotStarter” system, for example, carries out the most important standard measurements rapidly, providing parameters such as radius, angle, length and width, runout and concentricity with a click.

 

The other benefits of the new smileCompact include:

 

• a one-hand command grip to quickly shift the optical unit to two axes by simply pressing a button.
• the optical processing of images, with a telecentric lens, CCD video camera and LED ring light to inspect the cutting edges of the tools.
• a control unit with a 13” touch display.
• a membrane keypad.
• an SK 50 high-precision chuck fitted with calibration spheres and a concentricity of 0.002 mm.
• bench-top electronics with variable monitor position.
• a label printer that provides the presetting data in code or alphanumeric format.
